This one looks admittedly the most 2000s/2010s ugly digital, but it’s saved by the snappy editing. There are probably different cinematographers for each of his films because none of them are quite the same.

I actually don’t mind his contributions to the series (except for the Beasts movies, of course) even though he takes up half of them all by himself–smartly I suppose he utilizes different moods and energies depending on the movie. That’s something I would put on the director, David Yates. Other older actors come away mostly unscathed–and at some point it becomes the Imelda Staunton show, who’s as iconic as Umbridge as Alan Rickman is with Snape–but a lot of earlier beats come off as pretty awkward even with their talents. He actually does things here of his own accord! Like a character! Watson and Grint are barely in this one–it’s all Radcliffe, which is a smart move for your protagonist who can start to feel like a passive audience surrogate at times with how the world and story is set up, having everyone explain everything to him.
But I guess he’s right that Gary Oldman makes him better, since whenever Sirius shows up Radcliffe gets better at listening and reacting and giving a generally fuller performance. I suppose that’s why his dead body performance in Swiss Army Man is so good since it doesn’t require him to emote with his face. The performances, specifically Radcliffe’s, are pretty rough for the first half.
